FIRST OPIC-WIDE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION HELD

February 25, 2009, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Twenty-six entrants competed in The Ontario Partnership for Innovation and Commercialization (OPIC) Business Plan Competition. Judges from McMaster’s Xerox Centre for Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Vencorps Community Capital selected the winner from 6 finalists chosen by judges from the Ontario Society for Excellence in Technology Transfer (OnSETT) and Q1 Capital.

Open to students, alumni and faculty from OPIC’s seven member universities* the competition attracted plans from business sectors ranging from internet/web-based business, fashion, biotechnology, to media arts.

The six finalists were:

  • The Dream Machine, Alex Levesque & Jason Legault, alumni, Laurentian University
  • ZelenTech, Arvin Peter & Dejan Markovic, alumni, Ryerson Univerity
