Karen Zavitz, B.A., M.P.A., AOCAD

Karen enjoyed fifteen years in government and industry as an executive, seed equity investor, administrator of a province wide university technology transfer program, policy analyst in technology and innovation, and management consultant. Her background has included senior positions at Innovation Ontario Corporation (a Crown Corporation investing equity in early stage technology companies), Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and Peat Marwick Consulting. She also served as a director on numerous boards. Karen has reviewed hundreds of business plans. While at Innovation Ontario she made 16 investments, 3 of which went public.

In 1996 Karen opened her consulting practice in Toronto, providing a variety of business planning and financial consulting services to small and medium size companies, associations, and government. Today she divides her time between OPIC and ISCM, a business advisory service.

Karen undertook doctoral studies in finance at the University of Toronto's business school. She is a graduate of Carleton University earning a Masters in Public Administration (M.P.A.) and the University of Western Ontario (B.A.).  She returned to school in the year 2000 and earned an AOCAD from the Ontario College of Art and Design.
